Attention! Attention!- Poundland Stila Scandal

Upon watching the recent Dispatches documentary titled ''Secrets of Poundland'' I am absolutely disgusted.
Documentary Youtube link here

Now don't get me wrong I am a fan. On every shopping trip I find myself in at least one store to see if there are any bargains to be had. Now, after watching this documentary I am not so sure. The documentary highlights the tricks Poundland plays which sometimes dupe customers into thinking they are getting better value when in fact they are not. To be honest as far as I'm concerned-although don't get me wrong I'm not comfortable or happy that such a practise takes places-this is standard practise from retailers. They also highlight that the lack of safety of the toy called the ''Funtastic Light Up Squid'' -which name is apt as it bursts into flames frighteningly quickly.

The bit that left me truly disgruntled-and I'm sure once it comes to be common knowledge many more of us beauty bloggers will feel the same-was the section on Stila make up products. I, myself have seen them in the stores. I, myself have been tempted to buy them. Why wouldn't anyone? Its a champagne priced brand at a truly discounted price. Poundland do say that they buy products from surplus and from over sees, the documentary highlights this source is called ''the grey market''. Dispatches bought the Stila products and told Stilas UK distributer Glorious Brands that they had found their stuff in Poundland.  They said ''we have no idea how Poundland purchased these lines'' ''it wasn't from Stila or Glorious Brands'' they then go on to say,''these products are over 8 years old and havent been manufactured since'' then adding, ''we are not happy about seeing our products in Poundland''

The thing is, make up has an expiry date and yes, I have often ignored this fact for-depending on the products-6 months or so untill they are fully used or I decide to throw them away. Given the fact that there is so much testing on make up products, testing that sometimes involves cruelty to animals, we should really take the approximately 8 year out of expiry date seriously. The products have been tested and found to go past their sell by date after a certain time. After this time the products are not deemed safe to be sold or in fact used.

As a consumer I trusted the fact that these products were safe to be used by me. I expected them to be up to standard and within the expiry date. They are not. This means that those who have used the product may be at risk. How? I do not know but I know that regulations and tests are put in place to protect us as consumers from harmful products. This is being ignored.

I hope that this knowledge is passed on among the community. I would ask that you respect the time and effort I put in to writing this post and credit this blog (as I have credited the Dispatches documentary) as the place where you came to know about this scandal. Although I am aware many may not do this.

What do you think of this ?

Holiday Hand Luggage: Beauty Products

The holiday that I've recently come back from was my first holiday with a my man and it also landed over our anniversary. Its also the first holiday I've been on since I can remember. So I was all panicky about what to bring. As it turns out the things I brought did come in use and I would have been lost without them. Anyway I'll not bore you anymore and just get right into it.

Haul: Tubbilicious Tub Treats

As you may know I am a huge fan of bath products. So I was thrilled to find another way to treat myself with a company called Tubbilicious
Tubbilicious make ''spa quality tub treats'' with ''all natural and organic ingredients''.
This triggered an interest in me immediately. I have sensitive skin and I often react badly to products which arent all natural. I then clicked to browse the shop-oh dear god was that a treat. Just looking at the products made my mouth water and then the description of them.... Honestly upon showing this website to different people all of them had a remark of the fact that they look good enough to eat!
Here it is.

I have never bought anything of Etsy before and was a bit dubious. Im not one for buying things over £5 on ebay or Amazon even. However after much deliberation ( well not that much because the products are just so good ) I decided I wanted to get a few things. I contacted the seller and immediately my worries about buying the stuff online were put to rest. The seller Jacqueline is so friendly that I decided to place an order.

Many of the products are made-to-order so you can have any scent you wish!
The packaging had flowers and hand drawn smiley faces on it :') It was such a nice touch!
Here's What I bought.

Sexy, sophisticated, smoldering eyes-for all eye types.

So you want your eyes to stand out, to smolder, to get that sexy look that has a come hither-esque attached to it but also a sophisticated one or...you just want to look damn pretty because your having a bad day. Well every eye colour is different and needs different make up applied to it for it to stand out. Here are my ideas.

We'll start with the most common eye colour in the world-Brown
