The Wonders Of Olive Oil

I have been struggling with the condition of my hair for a while now. This is to do with moving to the city and bathing in water which contains more chlorine that I’m used to. Basically it leaves me with an itchy scalp and very dry hair. I have tried big brands that promise to rid one of dry scalp and hair such as Head and Shoulders and T Gel as well as various other shampoos and conditioners but to no avail. My beautician suggested I tried Olive Oil.
At first I was reluctant to try this. It just didn’t seem right to smear oil in my hair.  However, I thought I would give it a go. It worked! For me, Olive oil is the perfect alternative to moisturising shampoos and conditioners.

How I Use:
I put it into the area I want moisturised the most first. At the minute this is my scalp. I rub it in slowly massaging my scalp at the same time to spread the oil evenly throughout my head. Then I spread it through the ends of my hair.
I then wait 30 minutes, after this, I shampoo and condition my hair as normal.
It’s as easy as that. Once I’ve dried my hair it feels like it has a whole new lease of life.
I use it once a week, although I could use it more.  I find that it makes my hair more ‘heavy’ so it doesn’t hold its natural curl as well. Usually when I use it I straighten my hair until I wash my hair again.
One last thing!
I find that if I leave it in longer than 30 minutes, say an hour or so, my hair actually gets lighter by about a shade. I don’t think it’s a permanent change but take this fact into consideration if your thinking about using it on coloured hair.

Boots Haul- Head and Shoulders, Mudd, Models Own, Revlon, Rimmel, Batiste, Dove and Barry M

As many of you know Boots have many of their lines 3 for 2. I just could resist finally getting my hands on some Models Own nail polishes as well as one of the highly coveted Gelly Barry M nail polishes. Some of the items I got because I had a further discount from the Extra Offers Kiosk, this discount comes on top of the 3 for 2 deal! So. Much. Saving.

  • Head and Shoulders- love this stuff.
  • Models Own Nail Polishes- so excited to try these!
  • Revlon Colourstay Foundation- review to come soon.
  • Gelly Barry M Nail Paint- also excited to try!
  • Rimmel Eyeliner- literally been by staple eyeliner for years now.
  • Mudd Original Mask- must do a review on this too. Its amazing.
  • Batiste Dry Shampoo- So good to give life to hair in between washes.
  • Dove Pomegranate Deodorant-This stuff smells amazing, and lasts well into the next day.

So I bought a few things.

I picked these up in Exhibit and altogether cost £35! Bar-gain.

Got these too (they are from Dunnes Stores) as a wee gift for Easter because I’m gluten and lactose intolerant.

Do You Ever Feel Like A Plastic Bag?

But where am I journeying to?
Whilst off for my Easter Break from Uni (which is more than welcome) I've spent more time doing nothing all day(reading, watching and writing things). Than actually going out and meeting friends. Basically I'm in hibernation mode. This suits me fine. Within the next few days I'm going to get out of this mode and start Uni work, work that I know will be constant until the end of the next semester so in fact this break is needed.

This break from work and subsequently an increase general lazing about, doing not very much has made me stop and think. I'm at a time in my life when things are moving very quickly. This year, since September has absolutely flown in and soon I'll be saying goodbye to my hall mates and another chapter in my life will be over.

The long period of summer has made me want to both search for a a full time job to gain work experience for my future career. I don't know exactly what I want to do, but I know I want to write;I don't know what,  but writing is very close to my heart. Although, I feel, for the time being getting a job in administration will benefit me the most.  I'm sure there are many at my age of 19 and older in the same position as me. I've been in full time education my whole life so getting work experience in an administration job is almost impossible. Everywhere I look is looking for experience, experience I just don't have because of my age. Its a horrible cycle. I wonder how I will get work when I finish my degree because of this lack of experience. Sigh.

I guess I'm just in one of those phases in life where I don't know where I'm going and I'm just floating about the place much like a plastic bag with no real direction.

I do believe that everything happens for a reason. All I can really do at the minute is do my Uni work, apply for things anyway (even though its hard to find opportunities out there) and hope for the best at the end of it.

Updated: Ways To Follow

Unfortunately it has come to light that not only is Hellocotton closing its doors but it seems GFC is soon to end too.
With this, I am highly concerned that those who wish to follow this blog will no longer know where I have disappeared to. It seems the most effective way you to follow me is here: Bloglovin'
I do have a Tumblr but I use it mostly for pinning looks I like to inspire me.
I also have an Instagram
The easiest way for you to contact me is of course via my Twitter

I would hate to lose any of you!
Did everyone have a good four day weekend?

These Boots Were Made For Walkin'

Hey Guys!,

Yesterday, as part of their 'Easter Treats', Clarks were giving away a free pair of shoes to the first person to walk into their store and say:

"I'm here to claim my Easter Treats from Clarks. Have I won?"

I was incredibly lucky and at around 1pm, much to my surprise, no one in my Belfast store had claimed the prize. I was a winner!
Although I tried on a few things the most comfortable, most practical and as it turns out, one of the most expensive things for me to pick was these bad boys!

There were a few issues which took away from the experience. The manager tried to say I had said the phrase wrong, and made it awkward for me to claim my prize. I had to prove where I had got the phrase from (which is fair enough) but with no WIFI or 3G signal it was took a while for me to prove. I ended up sitting for a good half hour looking for a way to get the code before I even looked at anything (I didn’t want to get something and then have them take it away from me).  Though the other members of staff were very helpful the manager I dealt with was quite rude and made me feel like she wanted rid of me as soon as possible. I knew you could pick shoes OR a bag but the manager only ever offered me a pair of shoes.  The less rude manager tried to steer me towards a less expensive pair of shoes but fortunately I could see what they were up to and I was having none of it.

Overall though I am absolutely ecstatic, I never win anything and this was very lucky. They are an expensive pair of shoes (£99.99) and because they are form Clarks, I know they are amazing quality.  Depending on the changeable British weather I may need them even in the Summer. Thank you Clarks, I really appreciate these.

Life and GHDs

So...I've been M.I.A really since I started Uni. I have been really busy from one thing and another and I really do want to get into a good work routine. Anywho, back to blogging I go!

After a year of not straightening-at all, I finally splurged and got me some GHDs!
I went for the wide plate because my hair is quite long. I have had the 'normal' size plate before and, to be quite honest, I'm not sure if there is much of a difference between the two.

I highly recommend the site I got them from : http://www.bodycare2000.com/

I got them for just £90. Considering this price is lower than that of the old collection on many sites this was an absolute bargain! Also this site allows you to collect points for every purchase, much like Boots or Superdrug, which is a nice bonus!

They came with this designer case (free), which is nice to store them in, as well as a Sally Hansen nail polish (also free). Not saying I love the colour but with a light enough coat they show up clear on the nails, so it is somewhat useful.
