10 Boring Grown-Up Things I Get Excited About

1. Washing my clothes with new washing powder and smelling them when they are dried.
2. Having all my dishes clean and organised all at once.
3. A tidy and organised room and en suite.
4. A freshly vacuumed  floor.
5. The satisfying feeling after spring cleaning.
6. Going to the gym, then showering and eating a healthy meal.
7. Writing down things in my Filofax.
8. Eating a salad really enjoying it.
9. 3 ply toilet paper.
10. Fresh bed sheets.

Does anyone else get excited about little things such as these?

These Boots Were Made For Walkin'

Hey Guys!,

Yesterday, as part of their 'Easter Treats', Clarks were giving away a free pair of shoes to the first person to walk into their store and say:

"I'm here to claim my Easter Treats from Clarks. Have I won?"

I was incredibly lucky and at around 1pm, much to my surprise, no one in my Belfast store had claimed the prize. I was a winner!
Although I tried on a few things the most comfortable, most practical and as it turns out, one of the most expensive things for me to pick was these bad boys!

There were a few issues which took away from the experience. The manager tried to say I had said the phrase wrong, and made it awkward for me to claim my prize. I had to prove where I had got the phrase from (which is fair enough) but with no WIFI or 3G signal it was took a while for me to prove. I ended up sitting for a good half hour looking for a way to get the code before I even looked at anything (I didn’t want to get something and then have them take it away from me).  Though the other members of staff were very helpful the manager I dealt with was quite rude and made me feel like she wanted rid of me as soon as possible. I knew you could pick shoes OR a bag but the manager only ever offered me a pair of shoes.  The less rude manager tried to steer me towards a less expensive pair of shoes but fortunately I could see what they were up to and I was having none of it.

Overall though I am absolutely ecstatic, I never win anything and this was very lucky. They are an expensive pair of shoes (£99.99) and because they are form Clarks, I know they are amazing quality.  Depending on the changeable British weather I may need them even in the Summer. Thank you Clarks, I really appreciate these.

Life and GHDs

So...I've been M.I.A really since I started Uni. I have been really busy from one thing and another and I really do want to get into a good work routine. Anywho, back to blogging I go!

After a year of not straightening-at all, I finally splurged and got me some GHDs!
I went for the wide plate because my hair is quite long. I have had the 'normal' size plate before and, to be quite honest, I'm not sure if there is much of a difference between the two.

I highly recommend the site I got them from : http://www.bodycare2000.com/

I got them for just £90. Considering this price is lower than that of the old collection on many sites this was an absolute bargain! Also this site allows you to collect points for every purchase, much like Boots or Superdrug, which is a nice bonus!

They came with this designer case (free), which is nice to store them in, as well as a Sally Hansen nail polish (also free). Not saying I love the colour but with a light enough coat they show up clear on the nails, so it is somewhat useful.

Skin Truth: Review and Product Rave

This wonderful gift was given to me by a very dear friend.
Its a wonderful salon quality set of skin products. here they are

''The Skintruth vision aims to fuse beauty into well-being, satisfying both physically and emotionally. Skintruth is a professional skin care range which unifies naturally derived and scientifically advanced ingredients to optimise skin care, taking it to new levels''
I have been using these products for a good amount of time now and I can assure you these products are of the highest quality. I did write a post on How I Solved My Skincare Problems  and I still feel as good about that routine today as when I posted it- I still like to change it up a bit when it comes to my routine. I use these products more as a 'pick me up' as an alternative to a facial.

The person that bought it for me really does know me. Each one of these products have camomile and lavender to sooth the skin. The toner contains no alcohol so it doesn't irritate the skin. In fact none of the products irritate my skin. I love that the FACE mask has little granules in it so gently ex foliate your skin whilst you apply the product. I have even noticed a reduction in my skin redness after I use the product.
I often use these products if I have an important event coming up-they really make my skin so much better!

Attention! Attention!- Poundland Stila Scandal

Upon watching the recent Dispatches documentary titled ''Secrets of Poundland'' I am absolutely disgusted.
Documentary Youtube link here

Now don't get me wrong I am a fan. On every shopping trip I find myself in at least one store to see if there are any bargains to be had. Now, after watching this documentary I am not so sure. The documentary highlights the tricks Poundland plays which sometimes dupe customers into thinking they are getting better value when in fact they are not. To be honest as far as I'm concerned-although don't get me wrong I'm not comfortable or happy that such a practise takes places-this is standard practise from retailers. They also highlight that the lack of safety of the toy called the ''Funtastic Light Up Squid'' -which name is apt as it bursts into flames frighteningly quickly.

The bit that left me truly disgruntled-and I'm sure once it comes to be common knowledge many more of us beauty bloggers will feel the same-was the section on Stila make up products. I, myself have seen them in the stores. I, myself have been tempted to buy them. Why wouldn't anyone? Its a champagne priced brand at a truly discounted price. Poundland do say that they buy products from surplus and from over sees, the documentary highlights this source is called ''the grey market''. Dispatches bought the Stila products and told Stilas UK distributer Glorious Brands that they had found their stuff in Poundland.  They said ''we have no idea how Poundland purchased these lines'' ''it wasn't from Stila or Glorious Brands'' they then go on to say,''these products are over 8 years old and havent been manufactured since'' then adding, ''we are not happy about seeing our products in Poundland''

The thing is, make up has an expiry date and yes, I have often ignored this fact for-depending on the products-6 months or so untill they are fully used or I decide to throw them away. Given the fact that there is so much testing on make up products, testing that sometimes involves cruelty to animals, we should really take the approximately 8 year out of expiry date seriously. The products have been tested and found to go past their sell by date after a certain time. After this time the products are not deemed safe to be sold or in fact used.

As a consumer I trusted the fact that these products were safe to be used by me. I expected them to be up to standard and within the expiry date. They are not. This means that those who have used the product may be at risk. How? I do not know but I know that regulations and tests are put in place to protect us as consumers from harmful products. This is being ignored.

I hope that this knowledge is passed on among the community. I would ask that you respect the time and effort I put in to writing this post and credit this blog (as I have credited the Dispatches documentary) as the place where you came to know about this scandal. Although I am aware many may not do this.

What do you think of this ?

Keeping Organised-My First Filofax: Current Set Up

Until now I was a complete Filofax virgin. I really need to get organised for University and I've always looked at the Filofax selection in paperchase in admiration. I decided to splurge and bought myself the Filofax Sage Swift. The birdcages completely sold it to me.
On the left I have my Library card and loyalty cards for cafés. I bought some really cute Parisian post it notes off Ebay and stuck them on the standard Filofax divider I wasn't going to use- the prettier they are the more likely I am to use them.

Motivate Me Monday #1

I've decided to do a Motivational Monday to share a bit of something to inspire you to get things done this week and maybe make Mondays a bit more positive and less of a downer after a nice weekend. I will also achieve one weekly goal so I will be proud I have accomplished something.

''A failure is a woman who has blundered, but is not able to cash in on the experience.''
Elbert Hubbard

To do:
Organise my organiser.

What is one goal you would like to achieve this week?

August Favourites

Hey guys :) Its August Favourite time here at Ms Beaujoli. Here are a few things I have been enjoying this month.

Blog-

[Could not obtain picture in time for this post]
This is one a my most favourite blogs. Written by Danniella Josephine, called Beauty In Japan - its a hub of informative and witty posts. Take a look?

Book- The Fault In Our Stars

Plot Summary: Here
I've only started this book really and I'm pretty sporadic with my reading habits having several on the go. In saying that I can note that I was really impressed with how John Green had really portrayed the girl who is Hazel Grace. It was like an actual girl of her age and circumstance wrote it. His ability to write as a female even rivals some female authors who portray girls in a similar stereotypical way.
