Skin Truth: Review and Product Rave

This wonderful gift was given to me by a very dear friend.
Its a wonderful salon quality set of skin products. here they are

''The Skintruth vision aims to fuse beauty into well-being, satisfying both physically and emotionally. Skintruth is a professional skin care range which unifies naturally derived and scientifically advanced ingredients to optimise skin care, taking it to new levels''
I have been using these products for a good amount of time now and I can assure you these products are of the highest quality. I did write a post on How I Solved My Skincare Problems  and I still feel as good about that routine today as when I posted it- I still like to change it up a bit when it comes to my routine. I use these products more as a 'pick me up' as an alternative to a facial.

The person that bought it for me really does know me. Each one of these products have camomile and lavender to sooth the skin. The toner contains no alcohol so it doesn't irritate the skin. In fact none of the products irritate my skin. I love that the FACE mask has little granules in it so gently ex foliate your skin whilst you apply the product. I have even noticed a reduction in my skin redness after I use the product.
I often use these products if I have an important event coming up-they really make my skin so much better!

Attention! Attention!- Poundland Stila Scandal

Upon watching the recent Dispatches documentary titled ''Secrets of Poundland'' I am absolutely disgusted.
Documentary Youtube link here

Now don't get me wrong I am a fan. On every shopping trip I find myself in at least one store to see if there are any bargains to be had. Now, after watching this documentary I am not so sure. The documentary highlights the tricks Poundland plays which sometimes dupe customers into thinking they are getting better value when in fact they are not. To be honest as far as I'm concerned-although don't get me wrong I'm not comfortable or happy that such a practise takes places-this is standard practise from retailers. They also highlight that the lack of safety of the toy called the ''Funtastic Light Up Squid'' -which name is apt as it bursts into flames frighteningly quickly.

The bit that left me truly disgruntled-and I'm sure once it comes to be common knowledge many more of us beauty bloggers will feel the same-was the section on Stila make up products. I, myself have seen them in the stores. I, myself have been tempted to buy them. Why wouldn't anyone? Its a champagne priced brand at a truly discounted price. Poundland do say that they buy products from surplus and from over sees, the documentary highlights this source is called ''the grey market''. Dispatches bought the Stila products and told Stilas UK distributer Glorious Brands that they had found their stuff in Poundland.  They said ''we have no idea how Poundland purchased these lines'' ''it wasn't from Stila or Glorious Brands'' they then go on to say,''these products are over 8 years old and havent been manufactured since'' then adding, ''we are not happy about seeing our products in Poundland''

The thing is, make up has an expiry date and yes, I have often ignored this fact for-depending on the products-6 months or so untill they are fully used or I decide to throw them away. Given the fact that there is so much testing on make up products, testing that sometimes involves cruelty to animals, we should really take the approximately 8 year out of expiry date seriously. The products have been tested and found to go past their sell by date after a certain time. After this time the products are not deemed safe to be sold or in fact used.

As a consumer I trusted the fact that these products were safe to be used by me. I expected them to be up to standard and within the expiry date. They are not. This means that those who have used the product may be at risk. How? I do not know but I know that regulations and tests are put in place to protect us as consumers from harmful products. This is being ignored.

I hope that this knowledge is passed on among the community. I would ask that you respect the time and effort I put in to writing this post and credit this blog (as I have credited the Dispatches documentary) as the place where you came to know about this scandal. Although I am aware many may not do this.

What do you think of this ?

Keeping Organised-My First Filofax: Current Set Up

Until now I was a complete Filofax virgin. I really need to get organised for University and I've always looked at the Filofax selection in paperchase in admiration. I decided to splurge and bought myself the Filofax Sage Swift. The birdcages completely sold it to me.
On the left I have my Library card and loyalty cards for cafés. I bought some really cute Parisian post it notes off Ebay and stuck them on the standard Filofax divider I wasn't going to use- the prettier they are the more likely I am to use them.

Motivate Me Monday #1

I've decided to do a Motivational Monday to share a bit of something to inspire you to get things done this week and maybe make Mondays a bit more positive and less of a downer after a nice weekend. I will also achieve one weekly goal so I will be proud I have accomplished something.

''A failure is a woman who has blundered, but is not able to cash in on the experience.''
Elbert Hubbard

To do:
Organise my organiser.

What is one goal you would like to achieve this week?

August Favourites

Hey guys :) Its August Favourite time here at Ms Beaujoli. Here are a few things I have been enjoying this month.

Blog-

[Could not obtain picture in time for this post]
This is one a my most favourite blogs. Written by Danniella Josephine, called Beauty In Japan - its a hub of informative and witty posts. Take a look?

Book- The Fault In Our Stars

Plot Summary: Here
I've only started this book really and I'm pretty sporadic with my reading habits having several on the go. In saying that I can note that I was really impressed with how John Green had really portrayed the girl who is Hazel Grace. It was like an actual girl of her age and circumstance wrote it. His ability to write as a female even rivals some female authors who portray girls in a similar stereotypical way.

Poundworld Find: Sally Hansen-Hard as Nails with Review

I was browsing the beauty isle of poundworld. Something I love to do. You never know what bargain you may pick up-their stock is ever changing and varies from store to store so this is just a wee habit I've got myself into. Look what I found!

Tips for going No Poo

I've been thinking of going No Poo for a while now. Every article I have read (when the writer has successfully completed the transaction from shampoo to no shampoo) has been positive. Every single one has mentioned that they have never had better hair, the best hair they have ever had. When you really think about it the idea behind No Poo makes sense. As the daughter of a hairdresser I myself know that over-washing and washing everyday has consequences. Shampoo strips the hair of its natural oils and letting your hair go greasy from time to time is actually good for the hair. Modern shampoos weren't even invented until the 30s the first being Drene.

BRB-Sorting My Life Out.

You may have noticed that I haven't posted for a few days now. Unfortunately this is set to continue. I had originally planned to have a few posts done by now but life just got in the way as it does when you have plans. The reason for the absence is that I will be finding out whether or not I will be going to university this year. Fingers crossed Ill have got the grades I need. Over the next few weeks I may be terribly distraught or extremely happy and busy. I will still be active on twitter ! So keep in touch.

Holiday Hand Luggage: Beauty Products

The holiday that I've recently come back from was my first holiday with a my man and it also landed over our anniversary. Its also the first holiday I've been on since I can remember. So I was all panicky about what to bring. As it turns out the things I brought did come in use and I would have been lost without them. Anyway I'll not bore you anymore and just get right into it.

Why I'm not reading: Fifty Shades of Grey.

I've recently come back from a 12 day holiday. During this brief vacation I simply could not escape the current ''Fifty Shades of Grey'' hype. Seriously, every corner I turned it was there. Upon reading and watching loads of reviews (whether meaning to stumble upon them or not) I have come to the conclusion that it is complete and utter tripe.
As it turns out the inside of the book states that an earlier version of the story was published online for free under the pseudonym '' Snow Queen Ice Dragon''-It started off its life as Twilight fan-fiction. Which with all the problems surrounding the twilight story i.e the abusive relationship between Bella and Edward (if you don't know what I mean let me know and I will write a Post about that too.)

Haul: Tubbilicious Tub Treats

As you may know I am a huge fan of bath products. So I was thrilled to find another way to treat myself with a company called Tubbilicious
Tubbilicious make ''spa quality tub treats'' with ''all natural and organic ingredients''.
This triggered an interest in me immediately. I have sensitive skin and I often react badly to products which arent all natural. I then clicked to browse the shop-oh dear god was that a treat. Just looking at the products made my mouth water and then the description of them.... Honestly upon showing this website to different people all of them had a remark of the fact that they look good enough to eat!
Here it is.

I have never bought anything of Etsy before and was a bit dubious. Im not one for buying things over £5 on ebay or Amazon even. However after much deliberation ( well not that much because the products are just so good ) I decided I wanted to get a few things. I contacted the seller and immediately my worries about buying the stuff online were put to rest. The seller Jacqueline is so friendly that I decided to place an order.

Many of the products are made-to-order so you can have any scent you wish!
The packaging had flowers and hand drawn smiley faces on it :') It was such a nice touch!
Here's What I bought.

OOTD: Outfit Of The Day- My! What long legs you have.

Well today's outfit of the day was inspired by those times when you want to look like your legs go on forever but trainers just don't do the same as a good pair of heels can. Too wet/not the right occasion to wear heels? No worries with...

Hidden Heel Hi-Tops-River Island £40

Arent they just the best invention ever? All figure benefits of a heel with all the casualness of a trainer!
What will I wear with these you ask? Here are my suggestions.

Review: Lush- Angels on Bare Skin

Price- £5.95/100g

Angels on Bare Skin is my favourite facial cleanser of the moment. The luscious scent of lavender fills me with the knowledge that my skin will get a scrub with enough strength to clear the dirt of my skin whilst leaving it with that fresh from a facial moisture.

Keeping Yourself Gorgeous This Summer

We all know its that time of year for the next few months or days (weather permitting) Summer clothes will be on, the hair removal kit will be out and we'll have to switch up our beauty routine for the summer. Switching up the beauty routine is something I tend to forget. How can you blame me? Our British weather is so unpredictable that many of us at the first sign of sun barely remember to dash the sunscreen on before we take a day trip to the beach. Here are a few simple things we need to remember before its too late and the damage is done.

Sexy, sophisticated, smoldering eyes-for all eye types.

So you want your eyes to stand out, to smolder, to get that sexy look that has a come hither-esque attached to it but also a sophisticated one or...you just want to look damn pretty because your having a bad day. Well every eye colour is different and needs different make up applied to it for it to stand out. Here are my ideas.

We'll start with the most common eye colour in the world-Brown

Yeah so here it is.

I've been thinking for a while now of going in to vlogging and blogging.  I always annoy my friends with wee beauty tips I've picked up. Often I wish I could just tell everyone about them so that they may benefit too.
Hopefully this blog will help you and others on their quest to look good, especially when your on a tight budget like mine and dont like wasting your money on a product you think looks amazing and ends up just being a flop.
